Dr. Gaurav K. Shah and Dr. Michael M. Altaweel founded the OIC twelve years ago, and many clinicians cite the conference as the highlight of the AAO Annual Meeting. This program is an invitation-only conference that attracts leaders in the retina community.  The presentations cover both medical and surgical subjects encompassing a wide range of topics.

In 2011, the summer component of OIC was started in collaboration with the Western Association for Vitreoretinal Education (WAVE), with alternating meetings held in Colorado (OIC/WAVE) and Hawaii (WAVE/OIC).

Save the Date: The 2023 WAVE/OIC meeting will be held in Maui on June 25-28, 2023 at the Fairmont.
